Racist Barack Obama Billboard on Display South of West Plains, Missouri

Here we go again, another racist billboard. According to Springfield, Missouri's News-Leader.com, a billboard in West Plains is showing a caricature of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama wearing a turban and using his middle name, Hussein, in quotes has sparked outrage and accusations of racism and rightly so.

The sign is located south of West Plains on U.S. 63 across from the Dairy Queen and says: "Barack 'Hussein' Obama equals more abortions, same sex marriages, taxes, gun regulations."The billboard is racist and serves to divide us, as a resident who wrote the Daily Quill newspaper said, "such a tasteless display merely reinforces the wide-spread belief that Ozarkers are ignorant country bumpkins." People should be angry over this sign and the message that it is trying to send. Of course, the person who created the sign doesn't have the guts to show up.

According the News-Leader, one person said that "I can find nothing wrong with this sign/cartoon, which is truthful by Obama's own statements," wrote James E. (Jay) Gentry Jr. of Mountain Grove. "Raymond Fine, 74, of West Plains, said the sign is a form of free speech. The billboard is stereotypical and racist--Obama in a turban and his middle name highlighted as if to tie him to Muslim extremism.
Obama has said he supports a women's right to choose whether to abort an unwanted pregnancy, but opposes same-sex marriage. He does support civil unions to give equal legal rights and privileges to those couples, including access to a partner's health care benefits, property and adoption rights. Obama's tax proposals call for a tax hike on the richest five percent, but tax cuts for all other workers.

On the subject of gun control, the Illinois senator has voted against conceal carry weapons laws, voted to ban certain types of guns used for hunting and supported increasing federal taxes on ammunition, according to his congressional and state senate voting records.

A smattering of racist signs have popped up across the country, in addition to Barack "Osama" being put on the ballot up in New York. America has prided itself as the voice of reason globally and what is currently occurring in the presidential elections is further proof that the government has been perpetrating a major lie. If Germany can elect a woman as its head of state, what is wrong with America electing a black man to the presidency? Seems like old habits die hard. Racism is still alive and well in the United States.
